GENETICS


Members of the Section of Medical and Molecular Genetics evaluate and treat children with chromosome abnormalities, genetic disorders, birth defects, and unexplained developmental disabilities or growth abnormalities. The focus of these evaluations is to make an accurate diagnosis and provide patients and their families with information about the cause of the disorder, its treatment, its medical consequences, how it is inherited and what can be done to improve outcomes.  

The section holds clinics in the following locations:

 

Areas of Special Expertise:

  • Chromosomal abnormalities, including Down syndrome and Turner syndrome
  • Genetic disorders, including Marfan syndrome and Neurofibromatosis
  • Fetal Alcohol syndrome (FAS)
  • Birth defects
  • Unknown cause developmental disabilities or growth abnormalities

Services Offered:

  • Evaluation, treatment and genetic counseling for:
    • Chromosomal abnormalities
    • Genetic diseases
    • Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS)
    • Birth defects
    • Developmental disabilities or growth abnormalities of unknown cause
