adolescent medicine


The Section of Adolescent Medicine provides care to teens and young adults ages 11 through 21. Adolescent Medicine has been a part of the Department of Pediatrics at The University of Arizona since 1977, when Dr. George Comerci started the first Adolescent Clinic in Arizona here. The Section is managed by Richard Wahl, MD.

Services Include:

Primary Health Care for Teens and Young Adults:
Routine examinations for school, sports, employment, summer programs, and care for acute illnesses

Reproductive Health
Family Planning, Prevention, Evaluation, and treatment of sexually transmitted Infections

Routine Sports Medicine
Examinations, Evaluation of minor sports injuries

Adolescent Behavior Problems
Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, depression, school problems

Eating Disorders Evaluation and Treatment
Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa

We provide care at multiple sites around Tucson:

Kino Teen Center

Tucson Job Corps Center

Arizona Schools for the Deaf and Blind

Pima County Juvenile Detention Center

In-patient consults are also available on the Adolescent Floor (3-East) at University Medical Center
